The Big Split

When Starship Enterprises first set up in LP 339-7 they did so as a small subsidiary company within Blue Creative's control, based at Gell-Mann Ring, which was (back then) the systems biggest producing, 'main' station.

Dr. Lewis Chapman had newly taken over as the companies CEO and his shrewd diplomatic skills secured them a firm place within the federation charter of sponsored corporations. SE started working closely with the federal government at that time, becoming an almost military arm of blue creative. helping president Hudson patrol the boarders against both the Spiders and the Utopian door knockers.

Starship Enterprises had helped push Blue Creative's influence within 339 to dizzying new heights and common conjecture was that the two companies would merger to take on bigger corporate rivals in the local area.

A series of secret meetings began taking place between Chapman and the BC board of directors, fueling suspicions regarding the possible (and now very likely) merger.

During one of the last meetings however, one that was thought to be the finalization of the two companies becoming one, Dr. Chapman was seen by reporters storming out from the conference rooms. He refused to answer any questions that reporters were brave enough to throw his way.

Soon after, an audio recording acquired by famous 339 reporter Hieronymus Herodotus clearly told the story of what transpired behind those closed doors.

Dr. Chapman and Blue Creative executive Nathaniel Campos  can be heard in the recording having a heated argument. Various insults are exchanged before the two seemingly come to blows and have to be restrained by other parties. Soon after Dr. Chapman is seen to exit the conference rooms.

Later, Blue Creative offered the branch of peace towards SE saying that if the two men could resolve their differences then the negotiations could go ahead but Dr. Chapman stubbornly refused their offer countering it with one of his own: fire Campos and he would think about talking.

neither side would back down and negotiations were broken off. The SE offices were shut down within Gell-Mann ring, Dr. Chapman ordered a trade embargo on the station from his pilots.

This time became known as the 'Big Split', when SE first went alone as a company within 339. Dr. Chapman announced that he was putting through the paperwork to set up SE as its own entity, vowing to grow his company into a giant to rival Blue Creative.

He was in for some tough times, but Chapman had never shied away from that.
